Aster Confidence II Sweet Iron Baby Pelham
Stability, confidence and refined communication. The Aster Confidence II Sweet Iron Baby Pelham combines our Gentle mouthpiece profile with a locking centre and compact Baby Pelham cheeks, creating a more stable and supportive feel for horses that benefit from greater consistency within the contact. While the mouthpiece retains the broad, comfortable tongue-bearing surface of our Gentle design, the locking mechanism limits the degree of movement through the centre, creating greater stability and reducing the independent movement of the mouthpiece. This can be particularly useful for horses that become unsettled by excessive movement or seek a more consistent feel from the rider's hand. The locking action also changes the way the mouthpiece responds when the reins are engaged, allowing the cheek action to become more influential and creating a clearer poll component alongside the curb action of the Baby Pelham.
The sweet iron mouthpiece is designed to naturally oxidise with use, producing the characteristic taste associated with sweet iron and encouraging acceptance and salivation in horses that prefer this material.
The compact Baby Pelham cheeks provide additional communication without the longer shank of a traditional Pelham. Used with two reins, the rider can predominantly communicate through the snaffle rein and introduce the curb rein when required, allowing the degree of curb and poll influence to be refined according to the situation. It can also be used with roundings. The result is a stable, confidence-giving Pelham for horses that need clearer boundaries and more consistent communication without moving towards an unnecessarily sharp mouthpiece.

• Need clearer communication from the rider's hand.

• Need additional communication or control while retaining a broad tongue-bearing surface.
• Tend to become inconsistent or evasive in the contact when the mouthpiece moves excessively.
