The Aster Gentle Pink Titanium Baby Pelham combines our Gentle mouthpiece with compact Baby Pelham cheeks, creating a versatile option for horses that need a little more communication and refinement than a snaffle can provide, without moving to an unnecessarily strong or bulky bit.
The Gentle mouthpiece has been designed to create a broad, comfortable bearing surface over the entire mouth, helping to distribute pressure rather than concentrating it over a smaller area. Combined with the shorter shank of the Baby Pelham, this allows the rider to introduce curb action in a more considered way. The rein aids can be refined between the mouthpiece and curb, rather than relying solely on increasing direct rein pressure.
The pink titanium mouthpiece keeps the bit exceptionally lightweight in the mouth while adding Aster's distinctive pink finish, making it particularly useful for horses that dislike heavy or bulky bits.
Used with two reins, the rider can ride predominantly from the snaffle rein and introduce the curb rein only when required, giving considerably more nuance than using a stronger mouthpiece to achieve additional control. It can also be used with roundings. The result is a Pelham designed around communication rather than force.
